My Community Reach

I collaborate with nonprofits, agencies, and jurisdictions across York County and South Carolina to help Tega Cay and its community members.

  • I am on leadership teams of coalitions supporting healthy communities across York County including the Bike/Ped Coalition of York County and the York County Mental Health Task Force.

  • I run the Tega Cay Healthy Kids platform, promoting a healthier lifestyle for our community's kids. I organize the TCES Walk & Roll to School Days and Bike & Scooter Safety Rodeo in partnership with the school, TCPD, and TCFD.

  • I serve with the Tega Cay Lions Club, Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation, Tega Cay Parks & Rec, Fort Mill School District, and SC Women in Leadership.

  • As chair of the Bike/Ped Coalition of York County, I attend Rock Hill-Fort Mill-Area Transportation Study (RFATS metropolitan planning organization) policy committee meetings, where our region's most important transportation decisions are made. I organized, executed and presented the FMHS Walkability study to support safer walking and rolling to school.

My Tega Cay Impact

I have:

  • Helped lead the Tega Cay Water Citizen Advisory Council in our successful years-long fight against sewage spills (2010-14)

  • Led a walkability study around Tega Cay's all-inclusive playground (2019) and Fort Mill High School (2024)

  • Contributed to the 2025 Tega Cay Comprehensive Plan update, as a member of the Health and Active Living focus group

  • Written letters of support for grants for Tega Cay infrastructure to enable active living, on behalf of coalitions I help lead:

    • Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality (CMAQ) grant to finance a multi-use path to Catawba Park (2021)

    • Transportations Alternatives Program (TAP) grant to fund the Heron Harbor lighted crosswalk (2019)

  • Worked with the Tega Cay Planning Commission and City Council to update ordinances - including the short-term rental ordinance (2008, with a 2018 "re-visit")

  • Petitioned Tega Cay Parks & Rec to raise the age of flag football offerings to children up to age 13, from age 7 (2013)

  • Led an advisory board working with Tega Cay youth in pursuit of being able to #SkateTegaCay

My trainings include:

  • "Tega Cay Citizens Academy" course (2017)
  • Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation's "Covekeeper Training" (2010) and "Water Watcher Training" (2017) in support of a healthy lake and river
